My Illuminated Manuscript

Since I am not home with my in-house I T help from my lovely nerd in residence, I have not be able to figure out how to set up a gallery of photos where you can see all the words. I do apologize. But here is a taste of what I’ve been up to while I’m on Iona.

As I mentioned in my newsletter, I am finding so much inspiration here on Iona. There seem to be patterns, words, lyrics, and conversations every day and every where that I can use to fill my art time. My cup really is overflowing. I can see how the Book of Kells could be produced here. I imagine the monks working on it sometimes, especially when the wind is blowing and there’s a chill in the air. Those are the times it’s cozy to be indoors and creating with God looking over my shoulder. I love when the Spirit feels so near. I’ve enjoyed those times at home. But here, with no “needful” chores to do to keep my home running, I have the freedom to play and play and know the rest of life is humming along. Meals are planned. Groceries are purchased. Bills are paid. The house is cleaned. All without me there for a while. What a gift!
