Sunrise Sunset
Spectacular sunrises and sunsets are guaranteed around here. It doesn’t happen every night but when it does it’s rather special. The sky can go through such a startling shade of raspberry. It makes you want to walk closer to the shore and be a part of the end of day.
The top row of photos here are not mine. They are Ned’s sunrise series. Ned is a volunteer who has now gone on to other things, like Oxford to study Arabic. In his final week on the island he raced around checking off things from his Iona Bucket List. One of those things was to see the sunrise from the top of Dun I, the highest point on the island. The sunrises at about 4:30 these days, and it keeps getting earlier. I applaud Ned’s determination and I’m happy to have the benefits. I will not be climbing out of bed for a sunrise hike while I’m here. Ooof.
