Knit Treasure

A gal came into the knit shop where I work this week and told a sad tale: her knitting bag had been stolen right out of her car. (Her gym bag was taken as well but who cares about that. teehee) She was in the shop to pick up a few things. She also needed to make a list of the cost to replace everything so she could submit a claim on her homeowners insurance.A short list of the contents of her bag included: tape measure, scissors, knit gauge, point protectors, stitch markers, stitch holders, cable needles, crochet hook, and notebook, all in a lovely bag. Her knitting “tackle” quickly added up to over $100! And we still needed to add the yarn and pattern. I suspect the insurance adjuster will be surprised at the cost of yarn and sticks, not to mention the many other toys we use to help us with our craft.I helped her priced the things we could replace. But her knit bag held treasure we couldn't quantify. She was carrying around the joy of knitting for a new grandbaby, the comfort of knitting to relieve her stress, and the happiness of knitting in community. The treasure in her knit bag was more than she knew till it was taken away.So take a moment to peek in your knit bag.
