Proud of My New Sweater
WORTH IT! All the ripping back in the beginning was worth climbing the learning curve. Once I caught on to what I was doing this Wilson Sweater came together quickly. I am so pleased with the results. The only bummer is the warm weather here in California. It will be weeks before I can wear it. It will be in daily rotation soon! Hooray!
Here are a few details for the curious or knitters among you. It was knit with Knitting for Olive yarn, specifically nut brown silk mohair and soft cognac extra fine merino held together at the same time. The other cool thing about their yarn is that the website has a color matching system. Of the 95 choices you are given some help with what colors go together. And that was wonderful.
It took me two months to knit. It always seems to take me two months to knit a sweater. I was afraid I’d run out of yarn and it took weeks to get the yarn from Denmark so I hedged my bets. The design calls for hemmed sleeves and bottom. So after adding a purl turning ridge I switched to a purple cashmere I had in my stash to save yarn. The ploy worked and I’m very pleased with the little detail that makes this sweater all my own. You can’t see the purple, but I know it’s there, and now so do you.
Boy Kitty is wondering, “Are you done with the yarn? Can I have this? Is it for anyone to play with now?”
