Extravagance

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? Psalms 8:1 & 3-4

When I get quiet enough to really observe nature I am surprised by the diversity. There isn’t one kind of bird song, there are many: coo, chirp, twitter, trill, hoot. There isn’t one kind of tree reaching up for the sky, there is a forest of them: pine, oak, elm, oleander, bamboo. Not just one flower, a meadow full: lilies, roses, pansies, daisies.

Our creator fashioned a world of wonder. God was extravagant. He shared His very best with us. We can glimpse Him in nature’s amazing diversity. God’s extravagance extends even further, there is not just one presence of God in the world, there are many. He is here in laughter, song, tears, hugs, anger, joy. He
wants to surround his children with as many reminders of himself as they can notice.

Today, get quiet you’ll probably glimpse God.
