Spoiled Child

From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. John 1:16

The Lord said, “. . . You are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you.” Isaiah 43:4

Why me? Why so blessed? Because God loves me like an only child. God has billions of only kids he loves. He wants to lavish the best on each one. He wants the best of everything for me, Lisa.

I have trouble with “Why me?” because like any spoiled child deep in my heart I wonder if I deserve it. What could I possibly have done to get all these good things. Nothing. I’ve done absolutely nothing.

My Daddy God, loves me so unconditionally he wants me to have the very best. That’s a fierce kind of love. It is easier not to acknowledge it than to look full in the face of God and be struck numb by his powerful love.

If I say yes to God’s love my human nature tells me there will be a string. There must be a price to pay, no one can be that loving. God is.

Luke writes in 11:13 “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” God, the perfect parent, showering us, his children, with gifts of love.

God wants you and me to know his love in a very personal way. He wants you and me to understand all the blessings come from Him.
